What if I disagree with a clinical decision?

If you disagree with a clinical decision — your prescription being declined, a dose change, or a treatment recommendation — you have options.

Ask for clarification first

Sometimes a decision feels confusing because the reasoning hasn't been fully explained. Message your clinical team and ask:

  • What specifically led to this decision?
  • What information was the decision based on?
  • What would need to change for a different outcome?

This often resolves things without needing a formal review.

Request a second clinical review

You can ask for a different prescriber to look at your case. Be aware that:

  • The second prescriber will apply the same clinical standards
  • They may or may not reach a different conclusion
  • It usually takes 3–5 working days

Provide additional information

If your decision was based on incomplete information — for example, you didn't mention a recent test result or a change in medication — submit it and ask for a re-review.

Escalate to the Clinical Lead

For unresolved clinical disagreements, you can request an escalation to our Clinical Lead, Dr Liam. He'll review the case independently.

External escalation

If you remain unhappy, you have the right to refer your concerns to the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). Their details are publicly available.

Important to know

Clinical decisions are made for your safety. We won't prescribe outside what's clinically appropriate, even if a member disagrees. That's a regulatory and safety obligation, not personal.
