What is the Wegovy pill?

The Wegovy pill is an oral tablet version of semaglutide — the same active ingredient as the Wegovy injection — taken once daily instead of injected once a week.

How it works

Semaglutide reduces appetite, increases feelings of fullness and slows gastric emptying. The tablet is a needle-free alternative for anyone who'd rather not inject.

How to take it

How much your body absorbs depends heavily on how you take it. It must be:

  • Taken first thing in the morning on an empty stomach
  • Swallowed whole with no more than 120ml of plain water
  • Followed by a 30-minute wait before eating, drinking anything else, or taking other medication

Taking it with food, coffee or juice significantly reduces absorption. This matters more than it does with the injection — if it's taken incorrectly, the dose may not work properly.

If a strict morning routine doesn't suit you, Foundayo is a daily tablet that can be taken at any time with no food or water restrictions.

Doses

  • 1.5mg — starting dose
  • 4mg
  • 9mg
  • 25mg — maintenance dose

Your dose steps up automatically each month as part of your plan. If you'd like to stay on your current dose, you need to tell us — get in touch through our contact form at least two days before your next dispatch date. After that point your next month's medication has already been prescribed and prepared.

Pill or injection?

Neither is better than the other. The injection is weekly and more forgiving about timing; the pill avoids needles but needs a consistent morning routine. Your prescriber will discuss which suits you during your consultation.
