The Early Exit Charge is the difference between the discounted plan price you've paid and the standard monthly price for the doses you've actually received.
The principle
When you commit to a longer plan, you get a monthly rate that's lower than the standard month-by-month price. The commitment is what earns you that discount. If you cancel before your plan ends, the Early Exit Charge recovers the discount for the months you've already received.
Worked example
Let's say the standard month-by-month price is £Y, and your 12-month plan gives you a discounted rate of £X per month.
You cancel after 3 months. Here's how the calculation works:
- You've paid: 3 × £X = 3 months at your discounted rate
- Standard price for those 3 months would have been: 3 × £Y
- Early Exit Charge = (3 × £Y) − (3 × £X)
In plain English: you pay the difference between what you actually paid and what you would have paid on a one-off month-by-month basis, for the doses you've received.
What it doesn't include
- Any admin/processing costs are transparent and confirmed to you before anything is charged
- You never pay for months you haven't received medication for
- The charge is reasonable and reflects the discount you've already enjoyed — not a penalty
